Born Joel James Allen, Joel James is an Actor/Comedian/Writer and Producer who started his career at the age of 16 by joining an acting troupe at the infamous Geva Theater in Rochester NY his home town. staying with the troupe for 5 years Joel stared in over 14 plays including “The Color Purple” (Harpo) “A Raisin in the Sun” (Walter) during Joel's last season with Geva he began writing comedy Vignette's to be performed before and after each play with the push of friends and family, Joel began doing stand up comedy his first time at a local open mic night he beat out 15 amateur and professional comedians. After a number of local contest wins Joel decided to audition for NBC's Stand up for diversity becoming a finalist in the popular NBC competition Joel Began performing all over the NYC comedy circuit and got hired by Major Duffy to host “Major Duffy’s Main Game” 2009 & 2010 As of 2011 Joel added another title to the long list of talents. He wrote stared in and directed a Short Film “Get To Know Me” and as of March 2012 released “Single Until Proven Guilty” a Web Series which is a continuation of “Get To Know Me” working on “Single Until Proven Guilty” Joel became a “Screen Actors Guild” Signatory Producer. With a list of other project in production Joel James is defiantly an artist to be on the look out for. “I'm already doing everything I want to do it just about taking it to the next level and changing the world with my success” Joel has a Non-Profit Organization B.L.A.C.K (Building Legends and Combining Knowledge) where the goal is in it's name to “Building Legends out of inner city youth by Combing our knowledge with theirs” check out for more information.
